The offer
Users in India can download Vane, formerly Perplexica, for free under the MIT licence and run its AI answering engine on their own computer or server. The official repository provides Docker setup with bundled SearxNG and supports local Ollama models or separately billed cloud providers; the current v1.12.2 source release and licence are available. Hardware, electricity, hosting and any model-provider fees are your responsibility; this is not a free hosted Perplexity subscription.
Who can claim it
- Available for self-hosting in India; the MIT licence has no country restriction.
- You need your own compatible computer or server and a local model or provider account.
How to claim it
- Open the official Vane repository and read the installation instructions.
- Install Docker and run the documented Vane container with its persistent data volume and bundled SearxNG.
- Open localhost:3000 on that computer and configure your local model or cloud-provider credentials in the setup screen.
Good to know
The MIT-licensed software has no timed trial or subscription renewal. Your hardware, hosting and any selected cloud-model fees remain separate.
Current release v1.12.2 source archive and MIT licence verified. Keep the copyright and licence notices when redistributing. Cloud providers receive requests under their own terms and may charge separately; local models have their own licences. Software is supplied without warranty, and AI answers can be wrong.

Did it work for you?
Your vote is how a dead offer comes down: three or more "Didn't" in two days, outnumbering the "Worked" votes, and it is taken off the site.
Some links pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra and never decides what is listed. Full disclosure.
